A Way to Membrane-Based Environmental Remediation for Heavy Metal Removal

چکیده
During the last century, industrialization has grown very fast and as a result heavy metals have contaminated many water sources. Due to their high toxicity, these pollutants are hazardous for humans, fish, aquatic flora. Traditional techniques removal adsorption, electro-dialysis, precipitation, ion exchange, but they all present various drawbacks. Membrane technology represents an exciting alternative traditional ones characterized by efficiency, low energy consumption waste production, mild operating conditions, easy scale-up. In this review, attention been focused on applying driven-pressure membrane processes metal removal, highlighting each of positive negative aspects. Advantages disadvantages, recent progress production nanocomposite membranes electrospun nanofiber adsorption ions also reported critically discussed. Finally, future prospective research activities key steps required make use effective industrial scale presented

Microbes in heavy metal remediation.
Heavy metal contamination due to natural and anthropogenic sources is a global environmental concern. Release of heavy metal without proper treatment poses a significant threat to public health because of its persistence, biomagnification and accumulation in food chain. Non-biodegradability and sludge production are the two major constraints of metal treatment. Microbial metal bioremediation is...
متن کاملRemediation technologies for heavy metal contaminated groundwater.
The contamination of groundwater by heavy metal, originating either from natural soil sources or from anthropogenic sources is a matter of utmost concern to the public health. Remediation of contaminated groundwater is of highest priority since billions of people all over the world use it for drinking purpose. In this paper, thirty five approaches for groundwater treatment have been reviewed an...
متن کاملBacterial Exopolysaccharide mediated heavy metal removal: A Review on biosynthesis, mechanism and remediation strategies
Heavy metal contamination has been recognized as a major public health risk, particularly in developing countries and their toxicological manifestations are well known. Conventional remediation strategies are either expensive or they generate toxic by-products, which adversely affect the environment. Therefore, necessity for an environmentally safe strategy motivates interest towards biological...

ajor emphasis is placed today on treating plating solutions and rinsewater to reduce the concentration of toxic metals to below established limits prior to discharge or water reuse. Available technology is adequate for partial treatment of most wastewater; however, new technology is needed to scavenge heavy metals from complexed or chelated compounds in rinsewater. Several report^^-'^ from this...
